Active processes in the prosodic system of the Russian language: accentuation of adjectives

The article shows that the main source of accentual variants of adjectives in synchronic system of the Russian language are modifications of old paradigmatic differences and reformulations on the basis of new laws. It is obvious that the existing variability cannot be explained only by current trends in the development of the grammatical system of Russian language: synchronous material needs to be examined diachronically. This will help create a new perspective on the existing linguistic facts while working out regulatory recommendations.
